Clearview Centre is operated by a charitable, non profit society, the Communities Addiction Resource Society, and provides two programs to assist people in dealing with their addiction and related problems. The society is governed by a volunteer board of directors, representing many faces of our community – physician, lawyer, aboriginal health administrator, university students, addiction counsellors, RCMP, local business and a retired regional manager of alcohol and drug services. Our Executive Director is Katharine Gow. DETOXIFICATION PROGRAMThe detox program provides residential withdrawal management and stabilization services for men, women and youth. Clients are also provided with information, education and support in changing their lifestyles. Discharge planning services are provided for all Clearview Centre clients. SUPPORTIVE RECOVERY PROGRAM FOR WOMEN The supportive recovery program
is a longer term residential program, which supports women in their recovery
as they discover their voices, abilities and choices. The S/R program
includes informational and educational groups, as well as recreation,
life skills, recovery counselling and goal setting. We are a provincial resource, concentrating on serving the needs of our region, which is Central and Upper Vancouver Island, including Powell River. We are funded through Vancouver Island Health Authority, the BC Gaming Commission and our municipality. We also gratefully welcome donations from private and corporate sources. People who are interested in supporting Clearview Centre can become society members, volunteers and/or make donations. We welcome all persons in our communities who need our help, as well as those in our communities who would like to help.
